TOWNS AND CITIES

Switzerland`s small network of towns and cities mirror it`s population size of 8.5 million. Even Zurich, it`s biggest City by far has a population of under 500,000. Still there are several urban centres dotted around the country with several cities located on the central Plateau. These include Bern the Capital, Zurich, Basel, Geneva and Luzern. Here you will see a mix of commercial, residential, entertainment usage and the corresponding public transport systems.

Like all cities there is a real mix of architecture, cultural and economic life, good parts and bad parts but in the main, Swiss towns are kept very clean and orderly. Rural populations still tend to flock to suburban areas for employment. Modern communications and transport systems mean that people can move around quickly and freely within Switzerland and in general modern living is easy.
