Whether you are in Switzerland for a day, a week or a couple of months, it is safe to say you will never be bored. If Zürich isn’t already on your bucket list then you definitely should add it.

Why Visit Zürich?

Zürich is ranked as one of the best cities in the world to live, so any time spent in this fascinating city is more than worth it. Situated perfectly on Lake Zürich as well as at the foot of the Swiss alps, this city caters to every holiday taste. You can explore by yourself or book a guided tour to ensure you don’t miss any of the action.

Best things to do in Zürich in one day

If we have piqued your interest then reading on will only continue to do so. In addition to visiting the stunning historic Old Town, savouring delicious chocolate and fondue, gaining enrichment from the museums (art, watches and Fifa to name a few), listening to soul-enriching opera and taking in the stunning architecture, there is so much to fill your day with.

In addition to the experiences mentioned above, here are five  things to do during your trip.

1. See the Gerold Cunchi Umbrellas

A fantastic meal is not the only thing you will experience when you visit the Gerold Cuchi restaurant. There you will find a wonderful umbrella display hanging above the patio. There are 50 umbrellas in total, all with a different design.

2. Visit a thermal spa

Visiting the Thermalbad & Spa Zürich is an absolute must. Historically an old brewery, you have a choice of relaxing in a wooden tub, enjoying the rooftop pool or going the whole nine yards with an Irish-Roman spa ritual. Nothing sounds quite as idyllic at that.

3. Hit the street parade

If you happen to be travelling in August, you won’t want to miss the famous street parade. Known in Zürich as the biggest party of the year, you can celebrate freedom, tolerance, generosity, peace and love amid awesome techno music.

4. Savour the taste of flaming beer

Zeughauskeller is an extremely popular beer hall known for its extensive selection of delicious sausage with a flaming beer called Eidgenoss, which is prepared at your table. This is an extremely popular choice for tourists, so you may want to book ahead of time.

5. Take the Rein tour

We have definitely saved the best for last. You can’t visit Zürich without seeing the Rhein Falls, the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Book a full day trip that stops off at the Lindt chocolate factory and the Old Town before heading to the waterfall. For those brave of heart, you can also enjoy a boat ride below the falls.
