Typically Swiss Tours at the WEF

Typically Swiss Tours was in Davos last week helping out at the WEF (World Economic Forum). I had the pleasure of driving the Brazilian Delegation around during the weeks activities. The new Brazilan President,Jair Bolsonaro was in town to try and encourage investment into Brazil which has been suffering economically the last few years.
It was established in 1971 as a not-for-profit foundation and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It is independent, impartial and not tied to any special interests.

The World Economic Forum strives in all its efforts to demonstrate entrepreneurship in the global public interest while upholding the highest standards of governance. Moral and intellectual integrity is at the heart of everything it does.

Why Davos ?

Professor Klaus Schwab in 1973, founded what was originally called the European Management Forum, as a non-profit foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland. It drew business leaders from Europe, and beyond, to Davos for an Annual Meeting each January. The popular ski resort still attracts a long list of influential politicians and royalty every year as they seek to improve the quality of the world.

2019 – A big year for Typically Swiss Tours

Happy New Year from Typically Swiss Tours !!

2019 will see TST`s first year of trading and hopefully the marketing and promotion work will pay off and there will be many tours criss-crossing their way across this fine land.

Xmas was spent in Germany and the UK and now I am back at the TST nerve centre in Luzern trying my best to connect with venues, maximise Social Media opportunities and look at new opportunities.

The 2nd edition of the Typically Swiss Newsletter January version has been published and sent to over 400 contacts and as soon as the weather improves there will be meetings with the local hotels to promote activity.

The Newsletter focused on Graübunden area and in particular the Diavozzlia and Corvatsch mountains which are located close to St Moritz. The showcased hotel is the Hauser Hotel in St Moritz which is simply an excellent place to stay and relax after a day in the Mountains, summer or winter.

So, should you be reading this and need some more information, give me a bell on 0041 79 286 0451 or write to me at [email protected] and I will happily answer all your questions.

All the best and see you on Tour in 2019 !

Cheers, it`s going to be fun !

December Newsletter

Typically Swiss Tours Newsletter Issue 1
December 2018

Welcome to the first issue of the Typically Swiss Tours Newsletter, designed to bring you all the latest developments from the new Tour Operator based in Luzern, Switzerland.

In May this year the company was founded and the first Tours took place mainly in the Bernese Oberland but also going to Germany and Zurich. Satisfied guests came from primarily the US, but some from Australia and Dubai. Here are a couple of pictures of a few clients on the tours and some of the places we visited, which included Aare and Rosenlaui Gorge, Trümmelbach, Geissbach and Reichenbach Falls, First Mountain, Grindelwald, Isenfluh, Brienz, St. Moritz, Rhinefalls, Stein am Rhein and many more spectacular locations.

So, as you can see, we certainly got around and all my guests bar none had a great day, which was hopefully one of the highlights of their stay in Switzerland. I quote Joe from Philadelphia “We simply want to say thanks Chris for showing us some really cool spots in Switzerland. We visited Switzerland, Amsterdam, Paris and London on our 10 day Europe trip and have to say, our day with you in the Swiss Countryside was our best”, which was a very nice thing to say.
Therefore, I can safely say the first half year of the new company was a success with 14 tours completed since June. Clearly as a new company and brand “Typically Swiss Tours” has a long way to go in a competitive marketplace but the signs are promising and the feedback is very positive.
The winter is a time for developing and marketing the business so that next year can see some healthy bookings coming. So, like all business these days, I have invested into Social Media and Typically Swiss Tours has a presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, where pictures from Tours and the beautiful Swiss Landscapes are posted on a regular basis.

Then we have a presence on Trip Advisor and Viatour and then last but not least I have visited over 40 hotels in Luzern, Zürich, Zug, St.Moritz and Interlaken in the hope of attracting more customers. Feedback has been very positive and I hope to have more clients this time next year.

Typically Swiss Tours “off season” Marketing Activity

The winter months have set in and here at Typically Swiss Tours, we are using this “low season” to promote and market the company both via social media and more traditional marketing methods.

Clearly the aim is to simply grow the business and attract as many people as possible on tours around Switzerland. The Tours that have taken place this year have received excellent feedback and have really gone well. With the following marketing activity, Typically Swiss Tours is actively going out in the marketplace to attract tourists to visit Switzerland and come on a Tour. Tours can be either Day Tours or overnight and Multi Day tours taking you to the coolest, most breathtaking and stunning locations in Switzerland, in the comfort of a Mercedes V Class. Lastly Chris your driver/guide will ensure that you are well looked after and have the best Tour.

On the digital side, my social media expert, Joe, based in the UK has been managing the digital side of the business with activity on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Joe posts some stunning pictures of Switzerland and previous Tours twice a week. Reaction from viewers has been very positive resulting in lots of likes and shares etc. We are targeting social populations in the US, China, India and the Arab states in particular. Additionally ads have been placed with Google and the important SEO (search engine optimisation) is being addressed so that the site has the best chance to attract visitors to the Typically Swiss Tours website.

Meanwhile I myself have been arranging appointments and meeting hotels in Luzern, Interlaken, Zug and Zurich. The meetings with Hotel staff have been very encouraging and the Typically Swiss Tours product and concept has been received well. Additionally productive meetings have been held also with some Travel Agents who again confirmed that they liked the look of the product and would have no hesitation in bookings tours with Typically Swiss Tours.

Finally December has seen the first issue of the Typically Swiss Tours Newsletter. This has been sent to over 100 contacts which has simply updated the Typically Swiss Tours network of the latest developments including the new winter activity, a competition and showcasing some previous tours.

So as you can see, we have been busy creating new products, marketing and reaching out to potential new markets. Naturally we are hoping that all this activity will reap rewards as we head into the 2019.

Website updated with Winter 18/19 offers

Today sees the publication of Typically Swiss Tours winter 18/19 programme of activities. Winter time in Switzerland, like the other 3 seasons is a stunning and spectacular time of the year. The snow covered mountains provide an entertainment and activity paradise for winter sports lovers as well as a beautiful backdrop for lovers of the outdoors who want to take it easy.

Whether it is the traditional winter sports of skiing, snowboarding or the other typical winter pastimes of curling, sledding, snow shoe walking or cross country, there are plenty of activities and stunning locations enabling visitors to have fun in the snow in Switzerland, which is the original winter vacation.

Plus in late November and December the traditional winter markets will start appearing at several towns and cities dotted across Switzerland offering traditional and unusual festive gifts as well as the customary gluhwein and other delicious winter treats to warm you up.

Typically Swiss Tours will take the strain and stress of travelling to resorts or attractions. Guests can be transported in comfort to the various locations offering activities either in the mountains or at the Christmas markets. My Mercedes V Class takes up to 5 people with luggage and you can be guaranteed a safe ride in comfort, driven by myself of course. And remember, we take you to the places you want to go to so if there is a really cool Christmas market or a small ski resort in a rural and not so well known part of Switzerland, Typically Swiss Tours will take you there.

Hopefully navigating the new pages is simple and the information useful and informative providing you with fun activities that you and your group will enjoy. The landing page is Winter 18/19 giving you an introduction to the winter and what we can offer you – similar to this blog.

The 3 sub pages detail what we offer in terms of Transportation to the Christmas Markets and the Ski areas. Rates are hopefully competitive compared to other suppliers. When it comes to activities, Typically Swiss Tours will be more than happy, not only to transport you there but also to organise your winter activity such as Curling, Sledding, Cross Country Skiing or Snow shoe walking. Moreover if you have an unusual idea or activity in mind, please let us know, we will only be too happy to source it and organise it for you. On top of that, we will if required happily take care of any hospitality arrangements for your group at or close to the activity destination.

Joe and Suzy from Philadelphia – Typically Swiss Tour 22nd Oct

Joe and Suzy had a wonderful day in the Bernese Oberland discovering some really interesting natural places and having some fun at the same time.

I picked them up at their Hotel in Interlaken around 9.30am and then we headed west to Meiringen and the Aare Gorge. This gorge formed over millions of years is a sight to behold. The walkways through the gorge dating back over 100 years allow visitors to walk right the centre of the limestone cliffs.

Then we journeyed onto the 13th century village of Brienz, known historically for it`s wood carving tradition. We walked along the promenade and took photos with the blue waters of Lake Brienz in the background. After a stroll up Brungasse known as one of the most beautiful streets in Europe, we headed to the enchanting Giessbach Falls and the magical Giessbach Hotel, opened in 1870 and now one of the “go to” hotels in Switzerland.

The falls are a natural beauty with snow melted water crashing down over several terraces. The walkway up to the Falls provide visitors with a close up of the falls and one particular point even goes behind the waterfall. The views from the top provide superb photo opportunities of the hotel and Lake Brienz. After a spot of lunch in the majestic hotel which was divine and a wander through the hotel grounds, checking out the oldest funicular leading down to the Lakeside where boats transport visitors across the lake, we ventured onto the awe inspiring Lauterbrunnen valley and eventually reached the Trunmmelbach Falls which have the distinction of being a Waterfall within a mountain. We climbed up several stairways to view the several chutes where snow melted water was gushing out at a rate of knots into the valley below.

Finally we made our way up to Isenflor, a small classic Swiss Village for some wonderful photos with the imposing pearly white 4,000metres high mountains of Monch, Jungfrau and Monch in the background. The day ended after a short drive back to Interlaken with Joe and Suzy thoroughly satisfied that they had had a wonderful day in the breathtaking Swiss countryside. I cannot wait for the next Tour !!! Thanks Joe and Suzy for being excellent guests.

Typically Swiss Tours first Blog – September 25th 2018 – a milestone

Typically Swiss Tours

Hi there, it`s Chris, founder and owner of Typically Swiss Tours writing my first bog, I mean blog !!

I must confess, this is my first blog, I am not a professional blogger and forgive me if my blogging skills are not the best – I will do some research and try to make my blogs as good as can be so you can enjoy what is going on in the world of Typically Swiss Tours.

I will give you a brief summary so far. The company was founded in May this year 2018 and like the website says, is designed to provide Tours to couples or groups of up to 5 people to the coolest parts of Switzerland.

So far I have had 9 clients who have enjoyed being transported around several stunning and spectacular areas – the Rhine-falls pictured being one of them. The feedback from all the clients has been terrific and everybody has enjoyed visiting waterfalls, gorges, mountains or theme parks !! Clients have been primarily from the US but have also come from Germany and Saudi Arabia.

The business is still in its infancy and signs are promising. I have employed a chap called Joe from Lancashire in the UK, where I am from who will manage the Social Media and Digital side of the business. I will continue to nurture relationships with hotels and look at other creative ways to market the business in the hope that it grows quickly.

Quite some news is my car or Mercedes Viano Mini van was involved in a car accident – a “chap” in Luzern crashed into the back of our car and wrote it off so we have gone out and bought a black Mercedes V class which is really comfortable and stylish. I hope to have the first customers in the new car as soon as possible.

So that`s where we are right now. As for a blog you are probably thinking what the hell is that but I hope it gives you a little insight into the business which is all about providing people with unforgettable experiences in this enchanting and beautiful country.

See you soon and all the best from Luzern, Switzerland.

Chris
